Commemorating 20 years
By George Inggs
In 1994, as two young men, Bruce Jarvie and I discovered that we shared a common dream of becoming involved in a profession in which we were able to help people through what was undoubtedly the hardest time of their lives. Our foremost focus was always to be compassionate to the living, whilst being respectful and caring of the departed.
2014 marks Traditional Funerals’ 20th year of serving the Moreton Bay community, and we would like to take a couple of paragraphs to look back over the past two decades.
When we commenced our business, large chunks of the funeral profession were being consumed by multi-national corporations who were more concerned with shareholder returns than personal and meaningful funeral service. Our goal was to set ourselves apart from this ethos and provide a truly local and personalised service to the families of the Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe Shires, now known as the Moreton Bay region.
Much has changed in our profession over the past 20 years. Today, in order to continue to provide a truly excellent, personalised service we have established specialised multimedia, information technology, grief counselling and pre-planning departments. We have also developed crematorium facilities at our Burpengary site.
Traditional Funerals has continued to grow, and now employs 35 local staff, operating from three locations, Bribie Island, Burpengary and Redcliffe – it’s from these locations, over the past 20 years, that we have served over 12 000 families.
Despite most business partnerships ending in disaster, the union between our two families has proven to be a strong one. Most of all, our dreams are still being fulfilled today; We are still 100% family owned and operated, and our focus, as always, is to provide excellence in service to our client families.
